This spring, the MOQO network once again came together in Aachen to inspire each other, develop solutions and learn from experts - because the challenges of our time are too great to tackle alone. Together, we addressed the question of what is needed to future-proof individual services and shared mobility as a whole. Keynote speeches on autonomous driving and the key success factors of Airbnb as a high-flyer in the sharing economy provided exciting perspectives.

You know the story of the lumberjack who didn't take time to sharpen his axe because he had so many trees to cut down? At the MOQO Summit 2025, sharing operators took the time to sharpen their axe so that they could then continue working on their sharing business more effectively and with new insights.
In addition to visions and outlooks on how we will move forward in the future, it was also about tangible success stories and concrete optimization and development potential. True to the motto: where vision meets action.
“I particularly enjoyed meeting like-minded people who have to deal with similar problems every day.”
“Many thanks to the MOQO team! It was a great event with topics for really everyone around carsharing and related activities.”
“The event was already great the first time, but has become even better and more professional every year. It has become a must-go for people in the carsharing world.”
The summit focused on the topics that sharing providers are currently most concerned with. These included the optimization of operational processes, the development of economically stable business models and (data-based) claims management. Several best-practice examples, for example from Bilkollektivet, Ayvens and überall GmbH, demonstrated successful strategies for user retention and scaling. Dr. Mara Cole complemented the program with insights into the psychology of user behaviour and explained how trust, habits and barriers to use influence mobility behaviour.

This year's focus was also on the topic of autonomous driving: Sway Mobility reported on a project in the USA in which vehicles are brought to locations with high demand or to the charging station with the help of teleoperated driving. Rainer Becker from MOIA offered further insights into the current state of the technology in China, the USA and Europe - and encouraged providers to consider autonomous driving when developing their own business model for the coming years.

Another highlight was the keynote speech by Andrea Cordani from Airbnb. He showed how sustainable growth can be achieved through community building, smart platform design and targeted user understanding - impulses that are also becoming increasingly important in the mobility industry.

A special highlight of the Summit is always the direct dialog between participants and the product team.
Many of the suggestions made on site were not only taken on board, but have already been translated into specific product functions. The personal exchange helps us to better understand the requirements of providers and their day-to-day challenges - and enables us to respond quickly.
Every year, this shows anew how valuable it is to bring everyone involved into the same room on a regular basis - and how direct feedback can lead to tangible improvements. For us, this is a strong sign of the close cooperation with our community and a key driver for the further development of the platform.
New this year: For the first time at the Summit, we honored sharing operators on the MOQO platform with a MOQO Award to recognize their outstanding achievements in various categories.

Sway Mobility: Teleoperated carsharing in Detroit →
The 1.5 days at the MOQO Summit 2025 made it clear to us once again: a strong, committed community is a decisive factor when it comes to developing great products and services.
We at MOQO are very grateful for all those who strive every day to make a difference by building or supporting shared mobility. It's inspiring to see so many old and new connections being strengthened at the event, because we believe that together is the way forward.
Maybe we'll see you at the MOQO Summit 2026?

Marketing for shared mobility providers is crucial in order to attract new users and remain relevant in a dynamic mobility market. Typical challenges for sharing providers are high barriers to entry for customers and entrenched mobility habits. Effective strategies are needed - from a targeted user approach to emotional storytelling. In this article, we show three best practices for successful marketing.
Best Practice
In a pilot project in Detroit, the US carsharing provider Sway Mobility is turning to remote driving for the first time. Drivers use the app to select the right vehicle from all those available, which is then teleoperated to the station. The aim is to make carsharing as convenient as possible - and for providers to benefit from higher capacity utilization and reduced costs at the same time.
