Does a reduction of more than 90% in manual effort sound too good to be true? That is what the data from first pilot projects after the full implementation of carvaloo’s damage management solution into the MOQO product show. With damages (unfortunately) belonging to the daily business of a car sharing operator, this is a huge improvement as smart processes are crucial to keep operations efficient. Tom Althoff, Managing Director and Co-Founder at carvaloo, told us more about how the integration works and how both drivers and operators benefit from seamless processes.

carvaloo is a German tech company specializing in machine learning and AI technologies for the automotive sector. Since 2018, carvaloo has been offering the first reliable real-time damage detection for fleet vehicles, quickly becoming the industry standard in car sharing. Its unique AI solution automates the entire process—from damage detection to claim handling—and helps car-sharing companies become more profitable.
Headquartered in Essen and Munich, the tech company works closely with partners such as INVERS, Deutsche Telekom IoT, and TÜV Rheinland. The technology is used by car-sharing providers, car rental companies, and logistics fleets across Europe, as well as in North America and Asia.
Tom: carvaloo provides AI-based damage detection tailored to the needs of carsharing operations. It helps operators reliably identify vehicle damages, clearly assign them to the responsible user, and recover costs successfully. At the same time, it eliminates manual effort and simplifies damage handling in high-volume, day-to-day fleet operations.

Tom: carvaloo is fully and natively integrated into MOQO. For operators already using MOQO, no additional system integration or IT project is required. All relevant processes — damage detection, user communication, and photo uploads — run seamlessly inside existing MOQO workflows and are available out of the box.
Tom: When carvaloo detects a damage event, the process is handled automatically within MOQO. The responsible user is clearly identified and guided to upload photos through the standard MOQO user flow. These images are analyzed automatically and result in a structured damage report — without operators having to manually review images or investigate individual cases.

Tom: Many carsharing operators ask users to take photos before every rental, even though in more than 90 % of trips no new damage occurs. carvaloo changes this approach: users are only asked to upload photos when it is actually needed — in fewer than 5 out of 100 trips. This reduces friction, avoids unnecessary effort for users, and improves the overall rental experience.
Tom: For MOQO customers, carvaloo delivers measurable operational and user-facing benefits. The fully automated process eliminates manual effort, enables successful cost recovery by clearly assigning damages to the responsible user, and improves the user experience by preventing false accusations. All of this is achieved without additional tools, integrations, or process overhead.

With carvaloo fully integrated into MOQO, automated damage detection becomes a natural part of the platform — reducing operational effort for operators while creating a fairer, smoother experience for carsharing users.
As a gold sponsor at this year’s MOQO Summit, carvaloo will both present its service on stage and host a workshop for a deep-dive. You’re also welcome to request a personal demo during the event days.
